An interview at Phoenix CNE

After one-week waiting, I got an interview opportunity from Phoenix CNE. The interview was at 11.30 am  on Friday. As the TV station is in zone 4, I got up early and took more than an hour subway to get there.

Miss Wan, the HR manager of Phoniex CNE met me and arranged me an interview.  She is really kind, which made me feel not that nervous at the interview. Thanks, Miss Wan :)

The interview lasts 15 minutes. As I applied for both News department and Marketing department, I told the interviewee that my preference is News department. She asked me why I want to do an internship at Phoenix,  and my answer was all about News department. However, after that she told me that she is the manager in Marketing department.  It was so embarrassed at that moment and I was not very satisfied with my performance at that interview.

After the interview, the manager of Marketing department talked to Miss Wan. Waiting for approximately 10 minutes, Miss Wan came out and talked to me again. She told me that she thought I would prefer Marketing department because my major is not journalism. However, the manager of Marketing department told her I would prefer to do an intern at News Department. Therefore, she would arrange another interview of News department for me.

Although I am not satisfied with my performance at the interview, but luckily I may have another chance. Hope everything well in next interview. I really want to an internship at Phoenix CNE as it is the leading TV Station in China, especially in international news.

Application for Internship at Phoenix CNE

After the failure of the interview with Hearst Magazine China, I still kept eyes on other opportunities of my dream company. I was extremely interested in the internship of Royal Academy of Art. However, they only asked for native English speakers.

Therefore, I started to think about some Chinese companies, for example, the Phoenix CNE.Last week I sent them my CV though at that time they were not asking for interns. Hope there will be a notification of interview:)

Application for Management Trainee position at Hearst Magazines China

One of my ideal job in the future is to be a fashion editor working in ELLE or Vogue. Before I came to London to start my MA programme, I had done some research about the job opportunities in fashion magazines. I got to know that there is a management trainee programme in Hearst China every year ( which owns ELLE,   Marie Claire, Psychologies and Femina etc.). Luckily, they will start to recruit in London from 2012.

The first job I decided to apply for is Hearst China. I edited my CV and wrote a cover letter, then I talked to a career consultant at KCL to give me some suggestion about  CV and cover letter. After sending, I waited for several days, but there was still no respond until the interview day.  This means I even did not get a chance for an interview.  I felt really sad at first, but at least I have tried.

Yige's Cultural & Creative Industries Internship Module Blog

Welcome to my blog. This is the place for my thoughts and ideas about the internship module and my career plan during the year 2013 at King's College London. It is part of the assessment of internship module.

Let me introduce myself first. My name is Yige Liu. I am currently a postgraduate student at King's college London. My major is Cultural and Creative Industries. I am keen on fashion, arts and musician. I wish I could be a journalist or a fashion editor in the future.

The reasons why I choose internship modules are that:

1. I want to push myself to find an internship this year in London.
2. The internship module will provide me some information about internship position.
3. I want to push myself to reflect on myself and critically think about my internship experiences and the career path in the future.

Internship experiences are important for the first step of career. I want to plan it well and go further step by step.
